The Ghosts Have No Witnesses
The ghosts have no witnesses, Ghouls wither without morsels, Wisps light paths for no travellers, Songs are not sung, Every ship is lost, Castles are just stones, Because the people have gone. Banshees rove but no longer keen, The sphinx waits in the desert, Silent speakers sit in temple’s towers, Church bells do not toll, Wind spins only the loosest prayer wheels, Moss smothers all. Nights are simply lightless, Until new creatures learn to fear, The undying things are waiting, And hungry, And very, very near.
I don’t write poems very often, but October seems to always be the right time for them. Crisp leaves and the dark evenings bring out the gloomy bard in me!

As always, thank you for reading! I’m writing a new novel at the moment and having an absolute blast. It’s only the first draft, but I think it might be something very fun for readers. Nonetheless, I’m keeping up with the weekly updates here, because it’s fun to stretch my writing muscles in different directions.
With that said, sometimes writing a newsletter feels like punting words into a void, so if you enjoyed this please give it a ‘like’, comment, or pass it on to others. I guarantee you it’s the easiest way to make me smile, because I get a little notification ping each time someone does that (thank you to readers who already do this! <3 ).
Until next time, be kind to your awesome selves, and go be spooky,
Mata xxx
