Thank you! I often find the last sentence the part I rewrite most often in all these stories (which ironically also makes them most liable to typos because I've become blind to the errors through looking at it for too long!) :D
I feel like the last sentence of a short story is considerably more important than that of a novel. To me, at least, short stories are like jokes: they build-up to a punchline (not necessarily a funny one) that brings some closure, or leaves the reader with a sudden, final question. A novel feeds us more throughout, and closure is not guaranteed, so maybe there's more importance on it's final chapter or paragraph. Perhaps it's just all proportional.
I'm sure there are infinite exceptions, but I like to generalise 🤣

Absolutely! The more micro the fiction, the more like a joke's structure it takes on.
